Most commonly known as the BIG EASY and skirted by the mighty Mississippi, New Orleans is named for Philipe d’Orleans, Duke of Orleans. New Orleans was once the capital of Louisiana before it was relocated to Baton Rouge in 1849. New Orleans is known for its partying year round. The most notable festival is Mardi Gras which kicks off before lent followed by several other festivals including; the French Quarter Fest, Jazz Heritage Festival, Essence Fest, Voodoo Fest, Po-Boy Fest and Southern Decadence just to name a few.
